Clarence House denies newlyweds West Berkshire move

Reports that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are looking to move to Hungerford have been refuted by Clarence House

CLARENCE House has denied claims that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are looking to move to a Grade II Listed farmhouse near Hungerford.

On Tuesday, the Mail Online published an article saying the newlyweds were rumoured to be interested in moving to Old Hayward Farm House in Old Hayward Lane.

The farmhouse, which was Grade II Listed in 1951 and has a 16th-century waterwheel and private polo ground, is currently owned by Lucy and Jonathan Chenevix-Trench, the former is the younger daughter of Prince Harry's godfather Gerald Ward, who died three years ago.

The Mail Online reported that Mr and Mrs Chenevix-Trench were relocating to the 128-room Madresfield Court, Worcestershire.

A spokeswoman for Clarence House refuted the claim that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are to move to West Berkshire.

She said: “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's working office will be at Buckingham Palace and their residence is Kensington Palace as announced earlier this month. If the Mail had come to us before publishing this story we could have confirmed this.

“There is no truth in this story.”
