Clarks shoe shop returning to Newbury in Parkway Shopping Centre

Clarks shoe shop is returning to Newbury town centre.

C and J Clarks International Ltd has applied to install illuminated signage at its new branch opening in 50 Parkway Shopping Centre, previously Joules clothing company.

West Berkshire Council is expected to decide on the application by Friday, June 27.

The company, founded in 1825 and known for its range of fashionable footwear, left 2-3 Northbrook Street last year.

Before that, it had been based in the unit opposite at 103 Northbrook Street for about 25 years, formerly the Tudor Café.

The Mothercare branch at Newbury Retail Park, now Deichmann, was also home to a Clarks outlet, although it only sold children's footwear.

Another Clarks branch used to be located in the Kennet Shopping centre, but this closed in 1992 after only six years in business.
