Hungerford Rotary Club hosts classic vehicle show




Hundreds of enthusiasts for classic and vintage vehicles enjoyed a treat at the weekend, thanks to Hungerford Rotary Club.

The club's Classic Vehicle Show took place on bank holiday Sunday at the Hungerford Rugby Club pitch.

Club member Llewllyn Robins writes:

"Even though the weather was damp and overcast, over 500 people visited the show to admire more than 150 classic vehicles.

"There were a very interesting variety of exhibits, which included a steam powered car, an early post office van, an ambulance and a fire engine.

"At one stage in the afternoon a locally owned steam engine arrived, much to the delight of the many children at the show.

"With so many of the exhibitors and visitors saying how much they all enjoyed the day, the club is hoping that this will become a regular feature in the fund-raising calendar."

Rotarian Myles Young, who organised the event for the club, said he wanted to express his gratitude to all the owners who brought their vehicles along for exhibition, including members of West Berkshire Classic Vehicle Club who brought along a large collection for all to admire.

At the end of the day a whopping £2,200 had been raised for Rotary charities.
