Newbury Velo Cycling Club launches West Berkshire coffee network
A cycling club is partnering up with various West Berkshire cafés, coffee shops and pubs to create a coffee network for local cyclists.
Newbury Velo Cycling Club hopes that this network will welcome cyclists with open arms whether they be stopping for a brew on the way to work, taking part in a group weekend ride or a going out on a midweek solo trip.
The club envisions the network as containing coffee shops that are not just pit stops, but vibrant hubs for the cycling community in the Newbury Area.
Newbury Velo chair Simon Bowden said: “This initiative not only promotes a love for cycling, great coffee and of course cake but also hopes to foster a sense of belonging and support among cyclists in our community.
“Join us in exploring West Berkshire’s best brews and bike-friendly spots.
“As our coffee network grows, the list of participating coffee shops will be updated with a link to the website if they have one.
“No matter how far you intend to ride, there should be a welcoming coffee shop serving great coffee available to you.”
Participating eateries will be signifying their cyclist-friendly status with a ‘Great Coffee, Cyclists Welcome’ sticker in their windows, alongside a QR code which directs people to the Newbury Velo website detailing the coffee network.
Mr Bowden encouraged any cyclists who were interested in joining Newbury Velo Cycling Club to visit its website at https://www.newburyvelo.cc/
He also asked any businesses who would like to become part of the network to submit their details on the website as well.
