Code Ninjas on London Road, Newbury celebrates its first black belt
A learning centre in Newbury is celebrating its first ‘black belt ninja’.
Code Ninjas on London Road teaches children coding in different programming languages.
Progress is tracked via a ‘nine belt’ system, with children starting at white belt and working their way up to black.
The first child to complete all nine belts is 14-year-old Charlie Geter.
For his black belt he spent six months creating and coding his own video game Freddie Kart, an exciting go-kart racing game in programming tool Unity.
Code Ninjas owner Marcus Brind said he is proud of Charlie’s and all the other ninjas’ achievements.
He said: “Over the past two-and-a-half years we are honoured to have helped hundreds of local children explore and expand their interest in coding and all things STEM, through encouraging their creativity by designing their own unique computer games.”
Code Ninjas has opened its doors to non-members during this half term (October 23 to October 27) from 10am to 4pm.
Children can go along free and have a go at some of the activities from MineCraft challenges, VR experiences and others.
There will also be a prize raffle in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital.
