Coffee for carnival coffers

Carnival committee members are inviting people to come down for cakes and coffee to help fill the coffers, and will be on hand to provide information about how to enter the parade and fete.
Press and promotion member, Tom Satterthwaite, said funding for the carnival was ‘on track’ and anything raised would be helpful.
Funding for the carnival has been boosted by recent sponsorship and donations and the good news comes after the organisers of the Reading Carnival announced in March that their event would be cancelled due to combination of a lack of funding and rising costs.
This year's carnival will take place at 2pm on Sunday July 14. The procession will begin in Pound Street and finish in Victoria Park, where a fete and funfair will entertain the crowds.
The theme for this year’s procession is ‘Travels in Time – Past, Present and Future’ and so far there are 27 confirmed entries - three more than this time last year.
The event will be held at the Newbury Town Hall council chambers between 10am and 12pm.
