Cold Ash pupils bury time capsule at new school
St Finian's pupils have written about their new school, what is 'cool' to them and included a range of everyday items
PUPILS at St Finian's Primary School have buried a time capsule to celebrate the building of their new school.
Warings, the contractor that built the £4.8m school, helped pupils from the Cold Ash school send messages to the future by providing a capsule designed to prevent their notes from decaying.
The capsule has been buried beneath an engraved stone plaque saying it is to remain sealed until December 2041.
Pupils have written about their daily lives, what is ‘cool' for them today and how they feel about their new school.
They have also included a range of everyday items. Earlier in the day, Msgr John Nelson celebrated mass with the pupils in the new hall.
Headteacher Elizabeth Housden said: “Our first St Finian's Feast Day in our new school has been very special.
It enabled us to mark the day with the school community through prayer, music and singing during the mass.
This was followed by placing the time capsule in its place by the playground.
“It gave us all a sense of connection with the past, present and future and a focus on looking forward to many happy and successful years of learning in this beautifully designed and constructed new school.”
