Cold Ash holds a tennis tournament in memory of former player

Cold Ash Tennis Club (CATC) held its annual autumn friendly TP Cup Tournament in memory of a former member.

Twenty-four members signed up to play in 12 mixed-pairs to compete on the two courts, on Sunday, September 28.

Players competed in five well-matched heats, accruing the highest number of points to gain a place in the semi-finals.

Rita Robertson and Stuart Richardson won the trophy in style against close opposition from Marie Fenner and Mike Brook, who were the runners-up in the competition.

The tournament was arranged by Kevin Billings, with the scoring, prizes and refreshments provided by Clare Sanderson, CATC chair, and Maureen Avens.

The event raised £150 in voluntary donations from players.

The donations will be added to a fund that goes towards a second defibrillator for Cold Ash village.
