College to launch fundraiser

Newbury College will launch its charity fundraiser at its open evening tomorrow (Thursday)

NEWBURY College will launch its charity fundraiser 'Newbury to Namibia' at its open evening tomorrow (Thursday).

The fundraiser will raise money for Comic Relief by virtually cycling the distance between Newbury College in Monks Lane to Namibia in Africa before Comic Relief day on Friday, March 18.

The college is not only inviting its students to take part but staff, local businesses, parents and even one or two famous faces.

Each participant will make a donation and then complete as many miles as they can.

One of the organisers of the event, Shaun Daubney, said: "The idea is to make the fundraising memorable to each person as they will actually be helping to raise the money rather than just donating it."

Also at the open evening, which is being held from 4pm until 8pm, there will be information on course available at the college.
