Colossal cake sale raises £5,000 for Help for Heroes
The Northbrook street sale proved such a success it sold out by 2.30pm, according to Harriet Carrow, one of the organisers, who continued: “As ever Newbury supported us in spades,":
“We might not have had the quantity of last year, but the quality of cakes was stupendous!” said Mrs Carrow.
Bryn Parry, co-founder of H4H said: 'So many of our servicemen and women have suffered life changing injuries or contracted illnesses while serving our country. Their battle will continue long after the war ends, but with your support, we will ensure that they do not have to face these battles alone. Thank you for helping us to help our heroes'.
Newbury MP, Richard Benyon, also turned up to lend a hand at the sale, in aid of the charity, Help for Heroes, which raises funds to support members of the armed forces in the service of their country.
