Thatcham Town Harriers first in Berkshire to introduce FA Just Play

A community football club in Thatcham has introduced recreational football sessions for those just wanting to have fun.

Thatcham Town Harriers is the first club in Berkshire to become a Just Play centre.

The FA's Just Play gives “casual footballers” the opportunity to simply turn up at a venue and play football – for a bit of exercise and fun.

The weekly matches, for 16-75-year-olds, are open to all abilities and genders.

Just Play manager James Parker said he hopes the sessions can improve the mental and physical health of locals.

All money raised will go back into funding future community projects.

The sessions are played on MUGA Astroturf and the club has asked attendees to wear trainers or astro boots when playing and to bring their own goalkeeping gloves.

More information can be found on the club’s website.
