Kingsclere Community Larder to close on February 27 due to decrease in donations, volunteers and customers

The Kingsclere Community Larder has announced that it will be closing at the end of February due a decrease in donations, volunteers and customers over the last six months.

The larder, which operates out of St Mary’s Church in Kingsclere and has been running for three years, was set up to help those in need in the local area with purchasing food and basic groceries.

The last session of the larder will take place on the afternoon of Thursday, February 27.

In a statement on social media, the Kingsclere Community Larder organisers said: “The number of customers has fallen significantly over the last six months.

“Food and financial donations and the number of volunteers have also decreased.

“We regret that we have had to take the difficult decision to close the larder from the end of February 2025.

“It has been a real privilege to have been able to support so many people with food and household materials for this time.

“We send our very best wishes to all our customers, many of whom we have got to know well.

“Any left-over stock will be given to local food charities.

“We wish to thank the numerous people who have supported the larder over the years in so many and varied ways.

“We couldn't have done it without you all.”
