Community minibuses to replace local bus services due to council cuts

West Berkshire Community Hospital and Park House school among routes affected

Community minibus services will start across the district on September 5 to replace buses axed as a result of West Berkshire Council budget cuts.

Bus services to Park House School, Newbury, and also the West Berkshire Community Hospital are among those affected.

Rural routes will be served by three new mini-buses purchased with Government funding and provided by Kennections, owned by Reading Buses.

The replacement minibuses will serve local destinations including Greenham, Wash Common and Park House School; Kintbury, Inkpen and Hungerford; Lambourn and the Lambourn Valley villages.

Also among routes served by the minibuses will be Hermitage; Hamstead Norreys; Compton; East and West Ilsley; and Thatcham via London Road and West Berkshire Community Hospital.

Martijn Gilbert, chief executive officer of Kennections, said: “We look forward to being able to develop the services further in conjunction with the council and encourage more people to consider using the bus network for their local journeys.”

Timetables are available at www.westberks.gov.uk, WBC off-ices, libraries and also from the patient information point at West Berkshire Community Hospital.
