Community’s first ever Silfest music festival hits all the right notes
A community has hit all the right notes with its first ever music festival.
Silfest drew a lively crowd for its inaugural festival held in Silchester on Saturday (June 21).
The event, organised by the Silchester Association, transformed the village into a vibrant hub of music, flavour and festivity.
The music line-up blended local and national acts. Opening the show was the high-energy DAS BRASS, known for performing at Glastonbury’s opening ceremonies.
Festival goers were also treated to stunning vocals from Amazon Music’s ‘one to watch’ Christy, plus upbeat anthems from Britain's Got Talent star BigMamaFunk.
Guests also enjoyed a hand-picked selection of local brews including Heart of Hampshire from Mr Whitehead’s, Best of British from Bonds Brewery and Hu Hu from Mysterious Brewery.
A popular craft gin bar also offered a range of artisan gins.
The festival was powered by a passionate team of volunteers who worked tirelessly through the heat, from the early setup to the final clear-down.
Chairman of the Silchester Association Ben Samuels-Brown said: “Silfest was never just about one event. It was a shining example of the Silchester community at its absolute best.
“We had everything from volunteers on the ground, to the school kindly loaning us the stage, to neighbouring farmers stepping in with straw bales.
“We couldn’t be more thrilled with how the first Silfest turned out.”
Plans are already under way for next year’s event.
