Headley with Ashford Hill Community Shop granted permission to install solar panels
The Headley with Ashford Hill Community Shop has been granted planning permission to install solar panels on the open ground at the rear of the store.
The post office and shop is located within the Old Baptist Chapel in Thornford Road, Headley.
It is hoped that the installation of the 16 panels will be completed and commissioned by the end of June.
Shop management committee member Jonathan Morshead said: “The shop has a high power usage with a number of chillers and freezers and self-generation of power will help reduce one of its significant expenses.
“The intention is that the project will make the shop more sustainable, financially and, by using available natural resources, environmentally.”
As well as the shop which is open seven days a week, there is also a community space within the chapel used by local groups and clubs.
