Commuters face morning of travel chaos with delays and disruption

The A34 southbound is currently at a standstill due to two separate incidents this morning.
The first was a collision involving a lorry and a car near A4185 (Chilton Interchange).
A second separate collision involving a red Alfa Romeo (picture by Thames Valley Police) followed and there are delays from Abingdon North stretching all the way back to West Ilsley.
On the trains, a signalling problem near Theale caused delays of around 40 minutes for rail passengers in West Berkshire this morning.
Buses replaced trains between Newbury and Reading until around 8.30am.
First Great Western says the issue has now been fixed and trains are running but there are still delays to services.
Station Road in Woolhampton is reportedly blocked near the A4 Bath Road junction because of a level crossing failure, as is Colthrop Lane (at Gables Way junction).
Elsewhere in West Berkshire, Wasing Road in Brimpton is reportedly closed at the Three Horseshoes pub because of a burst water main and emergency repairs.
One commuter, Emma Smith, got in touch on our Facebook page to vent her frustrations.
She said: "Yes rubbish morning! I sat on 06:14 from Thatcham train at Midgham for 1.5 hours then got off as no indication on when will be sorted! Then stood in freezing cold at midgham for 20 waiting hubby to fight the a4 to pick me up!"
Another commuter, @andrewdlindsay tweeted: "Attempted to drive after @FGW and NetworkFail problems. 20 mins to get out of Thatcham then M4 is solid. Turning back. #fail"
