Company at Christmas for the elderly

Community Christmas provides lunch on Christmas day to elderly residents in and around Thatcham who may otherwise spend the festive period alone, and relatives and neighbours are being urged to get in touch if they know of someone who could benefit from the service.
The day will begin at 11am at Newbury and Thatcham Hockey Club, on Henwick Lane, with coffee and entertainment and will finish after a traditional Christmas lunch and the Queen’s Speech.
Transport will also be provided to and from the venue.
Founder of Community Christmas, Christine Billington said: “One of my biggest fears is that we hear of an elderly person who spent Christmas Day alone.
“For many, Christmas is a time for families but there are those within our communities who dread this time of year.
“We would be happy to hear, directly or indirectly, from any elderly person who wants some comfort and joy on a day that we should all be looking forward to.”
If you would like to register an elderly resident to benefit from Community Christmas call 0844 854 9251, 07954 440241 or email www.communitychristmas.co.uk
