Compton arsonist jailed for three years

Shaun Wiltshire, aged 45, of Burrell Road, Compton, appeared for sentencing at Reading Crown Court, after pleading guilty at a previous hearing to a charge of committing arson recklessly.
Mr Wiltshire was sentenced to 32 months in prison at the hearing, overseen by Judge Peter Ross.
The charge was in connection with a fire at a Compton house on June 1, following which one person was taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation.
On arrival, firefighters found that an occupant of the house, helped by neighbours, had mostly succeeded in extinguishing the blaze, after being alerted by smoke alarms
The fire was confined to the utility room, causing damage to about two square metres.
