Conservatives elect new leader
Mr Lundie, aged 44, will now be put forward for the post of West Berkshire Council leader later this month when the current leader Graham Jones (Lambourn) steps down.
Full council must vote to decide the new leader on September 27, but with a large elected Conservative majority Mr Lundie's appointment is almost certainly assured.
Mr Lundie, who works for UCB Pharmaceuticals in Slough, was elected to Lambourn ward in 2003.
He has previously been a member of the executive cabinet with responsibility for children's services, and also was a key figure in the council plan, which detailed how the authority will change over the next few years.
"It is a privilege to be asked to lead the Conservative Group and I am delighted that they have nominated me for the position of leader of the council," he said.
