Watch out for the convoy of old Renaults driving through West Berkshire villages
The Renault Frères Club, for cars built before 1940, is heading out on the road next week and will be calling in at Greenham, Bucklebury, Yattendon and Lower Basildon.
Ten cars, dating back to 1905, have a route planned for Thursday, September 14, with their first stop at Greenham Common Control Tower between 10.30am – 11.30am.
It should be quite a spectacle!
The Renault Frères Club was established in 1984 for all Renault cars built before 1940.
The club has a membership of some 150 with members as far afield as Australia, New Zealand and America in addition to Europe and the UK.
Each year the club organises a rally in France (usually in June) and another in the UK in September.
This year they will be staying at the Donnington Grove Hotel from September 13-15, on the Thursday driving a route from the hotel to the Greenham Control Tower and on to Bucklebury Farm for lunch.
The afternoon’s route will take them to Renegade Brewery before returning to the hotel. On the Friday morning they will visit Basildon Park.
Louis Renault built his first car in 1898 but the oldest car on the rally is a model VB which was built in 1905.
