Cookery demos and freebies at Newbury and Hungerford Sunday farmers markets

At both farmers’ markets, a chef will be doing cookery demonstrations, using recipes to show ways to use up left over food - with give aways of free food measuring tools and recipe books.
The initiative is part of the national: Love Food, Hate Waste campaign , aimed at encouraging folks to save money and reduce their food waste this Christmas.
West Berkshire Council officers and a team from Veolia Environmental Services will be at both markets and Veolia’s general manager, Mark Gray, said:
“We want to help our residents to reduce the food waste they put in the black bin as it ends up in landfill or energy recovery. By trying to reduce waste and recycling food waste in the green bin we can save money and help the environment.”
The Newbury farmers market is from 9am to 1pm today (Dec 15), then in the Market Place, in Hungerford on December 22, from 10am to 1.30pm in the High Street.
