Cordon in place in Calcot after St Jude's storm ripped through West Berkshire
There is also slow moving traffic on the A4 Bath Road in Calcot is closed between the Mill Lane and Burghfield Road junctions during this morning's rush hour.
Thames Valley Police were alerted to the gas leak at 7.19am near Calcot Golf Club, after a fallen tree damaged a gas pipe.
A statement released by police said that the cordon was in place for the safety of the public. It has not yet been confirmed how long it is expected to be in place.
There are also reports of delays on the A338 in Hungerford between the A4 Bath Road and M4 junction 14.
The high winds are also reported to have caused damage to power cables in Beenham, although this is yet to be confirmed.
The Met Office released an amber weather warning for the area, with winds predicted to have reached 80mph in the storm, named St Jude.
Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue confirmed it received 53 calls overnight, the majority of them relating to fallen trees and property damage.
Yesterday (Sun) more than 1,000 homes in Pangbourne were left without power after reports that a fallen tree has brought down a power line.
First Great Western are also reporting alterations to their services due to a combination of overrunning engineering works between Bedwyn and Westbury and debris on parts of the line.
A spokesman for the firm, James Davis, said that a number of high-speed services coming from the south west of England had been affected, but added that a slower service would still be running between Newbury and London.
He advised customers to check services before travelling.
The storm has also cut off water supplies in Bucklebury after a water pumping station lost power last night.
A spokesman for Thames Water, Stuart White, said that engineers were on the scene trying to fix the problem.
