Corn Exchange take-over




THE running of the Corn Exchange will be handed over to a group of 12 – 25 year olds on Wednesday and Thursday next week. Members of the Young Corn Exchange (YCE) will take over the 400-capacity theatre and arts venue for a whole two days. The group will run their own budgets, deliver briefs to designers, negotiate fees with comedy agents and deliver professional standard events on the day.
YCE’s aims for this year’s Takeover are to provide low cost family entertainment and activities for the Easter holidays during the day and to run professional live comedy and music events in the evenings. They have programmed two evenings of entertainment, kicking off with

onWednesday (7.45pm), a night of comedy headlined by Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee Carl Donnelly with effortlessly funny Tom Crain, for £12 (£10 concs) a ticket. On Thursday (7.45pm), premier Kasabian tribute band, Kazabian, play

Group member James Foster said: “I feel that the YCE is a great way to meet new people and learn new skills. I feel that the YCE has helped build my knowledge of the theatre and through being given responsibilities for things like the Takeover I am getting a lot out of the YCE” .
