King Charles Coronation garden party in the works for Thatcham
A garden tea party for the King’s coronation is on the cards.
Thatcham Town Council has discussed the prospect of holding a tea party on the Memorial Fields.
Councillors discussed the idea in a recent extraordinary finance and general purposes committee meeting.
Their hope is to offer an open invitation to all Thatcham residents for tea, cake and entertainment.
A jazz band is also hoped to play at the event, creating a festival-like atmosphere.
The event would cost the council £2,000, coming from a £7,500 allowance which was set aside for a Freedom of the Town ceremony which is no longer taking place this year.
The funds would go towards a gazebo, food, drink and live music.
Plans have been put to the council’s events committee.
