West Berkshire's baby bank moves to Newbury

Newbury’s Baby Bank has received 63 referrals for families in financial difficulty in its first six months.

And it has donated more than 450 items from care essentials to children’s clothes and toys.

The Home-Start Community Baby Bank has now moved home from its original location in Greenham Business Park to Broadway House in Newbury.

“We knew that we wanted to bring it to a more central location where families could access it directly and somewhere warm and dry to keep the stock in the best condition,” said Grace Green, the Director of Home-Start West Berkshire.

It plans to hold open days for parents and children to visit.

Laura Chaffer, Baby Bank Coordinator “When families are struggling to make ends meet, many of their choices are taken away from them and it can make them feel they are not in control of their lives,” said Laura Chaffer, Baby Bank Coordinator.

The Baby Bank accepts donations on a request only basis due to the limited space. Anyone wishing to donate should visit the Home-Start West Berkshire Facebook page to find out what the Baby Bank needs.

The charity also has an Amazon Wish List for the items that need to be purchased new.
