Council approve rerouting access to Wasing Estate

West Berkshire Council has approved a proposal to improve vehicular access to a West Berkshire estate.

The Trustees Of The 1975 Settlement Of Wasing applied to reactivate a historic farm route to improve road safety and vehicular access to the Wasing Estate Office.

The council has approved the application, saying it is satisfactory in environmental terms, including highways, heritage, ecology and principle.

The approval is dependent on the applicant meeting the following conditions, says the council.

These include the existing vehicular accesses at the site being stopped up and abandoned immediately after the new access route is complete; any gates where vehicles will enter or leave the site shall open away from the adjoining highway; and the use of the access shall not commence until the visibility splays at the access have been provided

Wasing Parish Council also welcomed the proposal previously, saying: “The existing access point on Back Lane is on a bend and therefore dangerous.

“The new proposed access looks to be in a much safer location.”
