Council approves proposed IKEA Calcot storage area

West Berkshire Council has approved a new IKEA storage marquee.

IKEA Limited applied to construct a new storage marquee in the service yard at its site on Pincents Kiln Industrial Park in Calcot.

The council approved the proposal on Thursday, October 26.

The site currently contains temporary storage shipping containers.

The proposal is located in an area subject to high surface water flood risk.

The council’s SUDs drainage officer noted no surface water drainage details had been provided with the application.

But the case officer’s report determined since the proposal is assumed to be located on existing hardstanding surfaces, it is unlikely to increase flood risk.
