Thatcham Town Council approves £5k spend on collapsed drain at Burdwood Community Centre

Thatcham Town Council has approved a £5,000 spend to repair a collapsed drain at the Burdwood Community Centre.

The council believes it has caused block paving to sink, exacerbating the problem.

The drain to the front of the centre has been prone to flooding for the past year.

Inclement weather produces either an extremely large puddle in this area or an ice patch.

West Berkshire Council was initially approached to repair the problem.

But it was referred back as the town council’s liability.

Any additional expenditure needed to carry out the works will be approved by chairman of the finance and general purposes committee Mike Cole and chairman of the recreation and amenities committee Tom McCann.
