Council chief executive launches blog to help public understand his role

Future items of interest and an overview of whom Mr Carter has met with in his official capacity will be publicised on the blog, and the council hopes it will help members of the public to better understand his role.
Visitors to the blog, which is to be updated monthly, will also have the opportunity to send feedback on any items discussed to Mr Carter, who has been chief executive of the district council since 2005.
Topics currently being discussed include issues surrounding the harsh winter and its effect on the district’s roads, and the Newbury Vision 2025.
Mr Carter said: “I’m looking forward to sharing elements of my role with the public to show the variety of topics I get to deal with on a daily basis.
“My job is so varied and I can be dealing with a complaint one minute and discussing exciting projects for the district the next - no two days are the same.
“I try to get involved in as many aspects of the running of the council as my diary allows as it is important for me to understand what is happening on the frontline, as well as managing the more difficult high profile areas such as budget management for the council.
“I hope too to share some of my own views and ambitions in the months ahead.”
