Council considers proposed new agricultural storage building in Compton

West Berkshire Council is currently considering a proposal for a new agricultural storage building.

Caroline Graham has applied for permission to erect a new building designed for the storage of grain, fertiliser and agricultural machinery/equipment at Church Farm in Compton.

Church Farm is part of a farmed holding of 407 acres owned and a further 120 acres rented, all actively farmed by Mrs Graham.

An existing building on site is located within 90 metres of the proposed building, but the applicant says a new one is required to provide an additional 1,700 tonnes of grain storage per year.

The existing building can store 1,200 tonnes and also holds agricultural machinery.

The new store has 270 tonnes of spare capacity, as the applicant is seeking to purchase further land in the area.

The council is due to announce its decision by November 20.
