West Berkshire Council considers proposed barn extension in Hamstead Marshall
West Berkshire Council isconsidering a proposed barn extension in Hamstead Marshall.
Watery Lane Alpacas Ltd has submitted an application to determine whether prior approval is required for a proposed extension to an agricultural barn, currently used for livestock and storage.
The site, which has been farmed by the same family for more than 30 years, also breeds coloured alpacas.
Its herd has expanded to 25 over the past year – and new winter quarters are needed.
Incorporating the breeding into the existing space would impede on its current storage capabilities.
The proposal therefore seeks permission to add space for the alpacas along with administrative, meeting and washing facilities for staff.
The council is due to make its decision by September 6.
