Council contractor backed up with higher number of overflowing dog waste bins than usual in Curridge

A number of dog waste bins are overflowing around Curridge village.

West Berkshire Council has said a resourcing issue is responsible.

A council spokesperson says its contractor empties all dog bins weekly, but that many have filled sooner than usual due to the warmer weather as more people take their pets outside.

“We are aware of the issue in Crabtree Lane and are working to resolve the issue,” said the spokesperson.

“Unfortunately, our contractor has had some resourcing issues which have now been resolved, but has left a backlog that they are working through.”

The council advises people to report full bins so it can empty them sooner if needed.

It also asks that people do not add to full bins, but take their pet’s waste either to an empty bin or dispose of it at home.
