Council creates online resource to support carers

Digital guides created to help those caring for others

WEST Berkshire Council’s adult social care team has joined forces with other Berkshire councils to create an online resource for carers.

The Digital Resource, launched earlier this year, is designed to help and support those caring for others in the district.

It’s free and features a number of useful online resources including:

. Jointly – a mobile app to help reduce the stress of caring by improving organisational skills.

. About Me – an e-learning course for carers to help build their resilience in the challenging caring role.

. Upfront Guide to Caring – an online assessment tool that directs carers to specific sections of Carers UK’s website to access information relevant to them and their situation.

It then produces a short action plan from the assessment to help plan their next steps.

West Berkshire Council’s executive member for adult social care, Rick Jones, said: “Many of us will become a carer at some point in our lives.

“Carers play an essential role in our community and need all the support they can get.

“These tools are specifically and sympathetically tailored to individual and practical needs. I urge carers to give the tools a try and to spread the word to others too.”

The digital resources were created in partnership with Carers UK.

Professionals can also access the digital service via the same registration process.
