Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council encourages organisations to apply to councillor community grant scheme

Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council has encouraged organisations to apply for funding from this year’s councillor community grant scheme.

Now in its third year, the scheme provides each borough councillor an allocation of £2,000 to support organisations to help deliver local initiatives.

Last year, Ashmansworth Parish Council benefitted from the scheme and received a defibrillator, as did the Headley with Ashford Hill Community Shop with a coffee machine and café equipment.

This year’s scheme launched in May, and emergency roof repairs have already been carried out on a community centre in Ecchinswell because of it.

Grants of between £250 and £2,000 can be awarded and borough councillors can also pool funding with one or two other councillors in the borough to provide grants up to a maximum of £3,000.

The scheme closes on March 1, 2024 and groups are encouraged to apply to their ward councillors quickly before the money is allocated.
