Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council hosting housing event for first-time buyers

First-time buyers looking to get on to the property ladder will find help and advice at an upcoming free event in Basingstoke.

Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council’s low cost home ownership event will take place at the Civic Offices on London Road from 3pm to 7pm on Wednesday, January 25.

Aspiring local homeowners will be able to drop in to get advice about various schemes including the council’s own home loan scheme, first homes, shared ownership schemes and the council’s new home ownership register which will be launched this month.

Cabinet member for homes and regeneration councillor Samuel Carr (Conservative, Evingar) said: “Home ownership is at the heart of a strong society, yet for too many the prize feels out of reach.

“I’m passionate about helping local people, especially young people, find a place to call their own – and this council is determined to help local residents achieve their aspirations.”

There will be representatives from housing associations, independent financial advisors and building societies on hand to answer questions at the event.
