Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council invests £130,000 into housing service for two new officers
Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council has invested an additional £130,000 into its housing service to ensure residents are supported when finding a home.
Providing affordable homes that meets residents’ needs and ensuring the bidding process is simple is a key priority for the council’s new cabinet.
There are currently around 4,900 people on the housing register waiting to be matched to a home.
The additional funding, which will go towards the recruitment and facilitation of two new housing officers, was approved at a cabinet meeting on September 5.
The council has stated that the new officers will work closely with residents to understand their needs when making an application and also provide additional support to those who need it when they are bidding for new homes through the council’s social rented lettings system, Homebid.
