Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council to establish 22 Christmas tree recycling points in North Hampshire in January

North Hampshire residents are being encouraged to recycle their real Christmas trees by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council this winter.

Garden waste service customers can put their real Christmas trees out for collection with their garden waste when collections start again on January 8.

Christmas trees left out for collection should have all decorations removed and cut in half if they are over six feet high.

Alternatively, residents can drop off their real trees at one of 22 collection points organised by the borough council.

North Hampshire collection points include the Burghclere Sports Club, Darling Buds of May garden centre in Headley, the Fieldgate Centre in Kingsclere, the Silchester Pavilion Car Park and the Wigmore Road Park Entrance in Hangar Road in Tadley.

These trees will then be transformed into wood chippings and ProGrow soil conditioner for local gardens and parks.

Trees can be dropped off from January 2 until January 28.
