The Bell Inn at Aldworth awarded West Berkshire and Berkshire County CAMRA Pub of the Year 2024
A West Berkshire pub has just scooped up not one, but two awards.
The Bell Inn at Aldworth has received two accolades as both the West Berkshire and Berkshire County CAMRA Pub of the Year for 2024.
West Berkshire CAMRA chair, Richard Marshall, presented the awards to publican, Hugh Macaulay, and his son James, of Aldworth Brewing Company, on Saturday, June 15.
Mr Macaulay, whose family have run the historic pub for 250 years, said: “We’ve had a double whammy. It’s absolutely amazing.
“I’m very happy just to have the West Berkshire one, but to win the Berkshire one is a double celebration here.
“After the award, everybody had a drink on The Bell.”
The next step is the regional round, covering Berkshire, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire.
The winner will be announced at the end of July.
The regional winners then go forward to compete in the final round for Pub of The Year.
“Watch this space, as they say,” added Mr Macaulay.
