Rob and Sue Hamilton who live in Ball Hill near Newbury celebrate their diamond wedding




A Ball Hill couple celebrated their diamond wedding last week.

Rob and Sue Hamilton marked 60 years together on Thursday, March 14.

They met in November 1962 in North London while Mr Hamilton stayed in a hotel that the future Mrs Hamilton was working in.

Mr Hamilton worked at Reeds Corrugated Cases in Thatcham as an apprentice and later in sales.

He took redundancy after 36-odd years and set up his own business.

They lived in Newbury when they first married and then lived in Ireland and Hartlepool, before coming back to settle in Ball Hill.

Mrs Hamilton was a nurse at Edgecombe Nursing Home and then Newbury District Hospital.

In more recent years she has worked at the gift shop at Highclere Castle.

They have three children together – a son Sean, and two daughters Sam and Beckie, as well as six grandchildren and three step grandchildren.

Mr Hamilton enjoys painting and cycling while Mrs Hamilton enjoys tennis and socialising with friends. The couple both enjoy gardening.
