Couple renew wedding vows to help cancer charity

Carol and Robin Adams raised about £600 for the Newbury And District Cancer Care Trust through their reception at the Hilton Newbury to celebrate their matrimonial landmark on Saturday.
Mrs Adams, a commercial manager, said her own brush with the disease, plus the damage it had done to friends and family over the years convinced her to lend a helping hand.
“Thankfully I have just had the news of the all clear so it is a happy time,” she said.
“We’ve been affected by cancer in different ways over the years and I thought it would be a nice touch to give something back to a wonderful charity.”
When it heard the event was being held to raise money for good causes the hotel also offered up a weekend break prize to help drive up funds.
