Oops.
This was the scene in Newbury town centre after a car was damaged by a mechanical bollard.
The incident happened around 10am today (Thursday) in Bartholomew Street, next to the Kennet Shopping centre car park entrance.
The bollards are flush with the road surface until they are activated, supposedly at 10am, and rise up.
A nearby sign states: "Rising bollards 10am – 5pm exit through car park."
It is not the first time vehicles have been impacted by rising bollards in the town.
Witnesses said an ambulance initially attended but the driver and his girlfriend, although shaken, were unhurt.
