Covid can't stop Hungerford 'scribbling sisters' telling a good story

Hungerford-based ‘scribbling sisters’, Tonya Meers and Natasha Dennis of ScribblerZone, have been invited to be virtual guest speakers at this week's Abu Dhabi International Book Fair 2021. They are presenting creative ways to bring stories and writing to life to a group of primary school librarians.

They were invited last year to run writing workshops for primary school children in Abu Dhabi, but Covid played havoc with their travel plans - and is still doing so - but wonders of modern technology mean they will still be able to show off their storytelling talents at this year's book fair through a live video presentation.

Demand for the ScribblerZone session has gone off the scale. Originally, the pair were asked to run a virtual workshop on creative ways to bring stories to life to a group of 25 school librarians, but it seems that everyone wanted to get in on the act — and they had to close the registrations when it got to 70 participants.

The Abu Dhabi International Book Fair runs until May 29. Tonya Meers, co-founder of ScribblerZone, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to bits that there has been such an interest in our presentation and hope we can give everyone some fun new ideas to bring stories to life. This year the fair is virtual due to the pandemic but next year we will hopefully be on a plane!”
