Crafty Craft hailed a success
The 30 teams battled heavy downpours as they travelled from Kintbury Lock to the finish line on the Kennet and Avon Canal alongside Victoria Park.
The annual fund raising event, held today (Monday), was organised by Newbury Round Table.
In the afternoon, the crowds packed into Victoria Park to enjoy the entertainment put on including rides, stalls, food outlets and drumming workshops.
Marcus Franks from Newbury Round Table, said: “It went very well.
“We got sunshine and most of the crafters finished – only one sunk and three others either didn’t start or didn’t finish.
“This is Newbury’s biggest free event – the money that we get through the craft entrance, through sponsorship and through the guys putting on rides in the park all goes to local charity, which the Round Table gives out throughout the year.”
Trophies were given out in the afternoon to various teams including Not Dead Yet for the best fancy dress, Bicycle Belles for the fastest women, Energie for the slowest finishers and fastest juniors went to The Bart Streets Kids, who were first past the finish line.
