UPDATE: A34 shut now cleared after crash on northbound carriageway just after the M4 junction 13 at Chieveley closed it earlier




UPDATE: 5.20pm - This incident has now been cleared.

The A34 has been closed just north of Newbury due to a collision and diversions are in place.

The incident happened on Monday, October 14, and emergency services are at the scene.

They include Thames Valley Police officers, and a team from National Highways.

It is not known how long the road will remain closed for, but motorists are warned they should expect delays.

Those who are driving based on a planned route are asked to allow additional time for their journey or re-route it.

The closure affects traffic in the northbound direction between M4 J13 (Chieveley) and the A4185 (Chilton).

A diversion has been put in place, with motorists asked to leave the A34 at the M4 junction 13 interchange.

At the roundabout, use the first exit and join the M4 westbound towards M4 junction 14.

At the roundabout use the third exit and join the A338 (Ermin Street).

Continue for approximately 10 miles to Wantage.

Continue to a T junction with the A338 (Newbury Street/Ormond Road). Turn right and join Ormond Road.

Follow to a further T junction with the A417 (Charlton Road).

Turn right at the T junction and join the A417.

Continue for approximately five miles to a roundabout at Rowstock.

Use the first exit and join the A4130 (Abingdon Road).

Follow the A4130 for approximately two miles to the A34 Milton interchange.

At the roundabout, use the first exit to rejoin the A34 northbound
