A34 closed in both directions between the M4 at Chieveley and the A4185 at Chilton after HGV crash

UPDATE, 10.45am: Emergency barrier repairs are continuing on the A34 just north of Chieveley after a crash in the early hours of this morning.

One lane is closed both northbound and southbound between the M4 junction 13 at Chieveley and the A4185 at Chilton.

Traffic is queuing for around 20 minutes in the area.

National Highways said it hoped the road would be fully reopened by 11.15am.

UPDATE, 7.30am: One lane has reopened in both directions on the A34 through West Berkshire, following a crash in the early hours of this morning.

The road had been closed since 2.20am after a crash involving an HGV and two cars.

Lane 2 – northbound and southbound – remains closed at this time.

Traffic is moving at around 20mph according to the AA.

The incident happened between the M4 junction 13 at Chieveley and the A4185 at Chilton around 2.20am this morning (Monday).

The vehicle collided with the central reservation and ended up on the opposite carriageway

Both carriageways are currently closed and motorists are being warned to expect long delays and to find an alternative route.

National Highways has said it expects the road to be reopened around 11.15am

A diversion is currently in place.
