Crash victims in 'serious' and 'critical' conditions

THE conditions of two casualties released from a car by firefighters following a crash in West Berkshire are now described as ‘serious' and ‘critical'.
Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service received a call to the road traffic collision at 12.55pm today (Tuesday).
The crash involved a silver Bentley Continental and a silver Peugeot 206 at the junction of Boxford and Hoe Benham on the B4000.
Two fire crews from Newbury and a crew from Hungerford used cutting equipment to release the 25-year-old male driver and the 21-year-old woman passenger of the Peugeot 206.
They were both been airlifted to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.
Thames Valley Police told Newburytoday.co.uk at 5.30pm today that the man's injuries are serious but are not considered to be life threatening at this stage.
The woman's condition has been described as critical.
The driver and passenger of the Bentley were taken to Great Western Hospital in Swindon by land ambulance.
A number of road closures are currently in place and are being manned by the Highways Agency.
