Watch the moment fire took hold in Thatcham house




Fire crews battled a huge blaze which spread to a number of properties in Thatcham last night (Tuesday).

Firefighters from Newbury, Mortimer, Whitley Wood, Hungerford and Theale responded to the fire at a mid-terrace property in Braemore Close at 7.55pm, which had spread to the roof and neighbouring properties.

Twelve firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus used two hose reels, two jets and an aerial ladder platform from Whitley Wood Fire Station to put out the fire.

One person was placed in the care of South Central Ambulance Service.

Three officers and one crew from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue Service also lent their help at the scene.

One officer has returned to the scene today while a fire investigation takes place.
