Community United announces second One Community Cricket and family fun day at Falkland Cricket Club

Promising to be twice as big as the event last year, Community United is hosting its cricket and family fun day on September 5.

The event will feature 12 cricket teams competing and has also been backed by Newbury Town Council, which has pledged £2,500 to help fund the day.

CEO of Community United, Alice Kunjappy-Clifton, said: “We are very grateful to Newbury Town Council for their wonderful support for our annual One Community event.

“It will help us to put on the best event yet.”

Community United has described the event as a manifestation of their commitments to work towards eliminating discrimination, promoting positive relationships between diverse communities and advocating for equal opportunities for all.

Mayor of Newbury, Gary Norman, said that the council was delighted to support the event, which aims to promote inclusion and diversity within the community.

He added: “This is a fun event, and the cricket will be played with a soft ball, so it is suitable for all ages and for all the family.

“Berkshire Youth will be providing entertainment and activities for young people, and Kennet Radio will also be adding to the excitement on the day!”
