PURLEY on Thames Cricket Club will be able to refurbish its nets thanks to two grants from Greenham Common Trust.
The club received a total of £5,303 from the trust in conjunction with West Berkshire Council.
The club will now be able to upgrade the nets and raise their height, and also improve the surrounds and run ups, making cutting and maintenance easier.
The club’s junior coordinator, Martin Bishop, said: “The nets had started to become unsafe to use, and therefore the work that has been undertaken now means that the cricket club, both adults and juniors, can make the most of the new refurbishment prior to and during the forthcoming cricket season.
“We would like to thank Greenham Common Trust for making this venture possible as it will make the use of the nets safer and therefore enhance our club training opportunities.”
