Liar! Woman who preyed on motorists' good nature at Membury services given Criminal Behaviour Order

POLICE and the courts have taken action against a woman who preyed on the good nature of motorists.

Charlotte Branford would approach people at Membury services or other fuel stations in Wiltshire and West Berkshire with a sob story, asking for petrol money.

But it was all lies.

Now 41-year-old Branford, of Godolphin Close, Swindon, Wiltshire, has been issued with a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO).

The order was issued on Thursday, January 12, by Swindon magistrates following an investigation by Thames Valley Police.

Branford admitted three counts of fraud by false representation.

The CBO, which is in place for two years, prohibits Branford from going to or entering Membury service grounds, Leigh Delamere service grounds and Chieveley service grounds, including the petrol forecourts.

It also prohibits her from approaching any member of the public to solicit money or goods using a false story within Wiltshire and Berkshire.

If the CBO is breached she can be arrested and brought back before the courts.
